| All small animals need a safe and secure home, away from predators. Whether inside or out, the homes need to be cleaned out at least once a week and all dirty bedding removed and replaced. My Little Friend Cage Disinfect is perfectly safe for using around your pets home and its feeding equipment.
Rabbits like to stretch and and roam so will need a roomy hutch – ideally with one dark, snug compartment for night time and one light and airy with a wire mesh front for daytime. The hutch can be outside but should be raised off the ground to protect from damp and predators. Softwood shavings or hay such as My Little Friend Softwood Bedding or Meadow Hay make a good lining for the sleeping compartment. The day side could be lined with old newspapers or wood shavings or hay and as this is the side the rabbit would use as a toilet, should be cleaned out more regularly. Rabbits also need regular access to a large, safe run, which is strong and safe enough to keep the rabbit in but keep everything else out.
Hamsters are nocturnal (they sleep all day and stay awake all night). They need to be kept indoor in a cage, preferably a plastic and metal one as they tend to chew and would probably gnaw through a wooden cage. They really like tunnels and toys to keep themselves occupied but also require a small nesting box filled with material that it can burrow into such as My Little Friend Cosy Bedding or even paper cat litter. Both need to be cleaned regularly and the bedding changed at least once a week. Remember that your Hamster will be up playing all night when you choose where to put its cage.
Guinea Pigs can be kept indoors or out. Outdoors they need a large hutch with two separate compartments, one for day and one for night time – as per a rabbit. Indoors, Guinea Pigs should be kept in a large plastic bottomed cage. Both of these cages need lining for the Guinea Pig to burrow and sleep in and softwood shavings are good for this (it is not a good ideal to give Guinea Pigs hay to line their hutches as they eat it as part of their diet). Cages should be cleaned regularly and all bedding replaced at least once a week.
Gerbils should be kept indoors, preferably in a large glass tank or aquarium fitted with a secure wire lid. They are energetic and like to jump so the tank should be at least 30cm tall and kept away from direct sunlight and drafts. Gerbils also like to burrow so the tank should be lined with plenty of material to dig into, either softwood shavings or peat moss or both. They also require something to nest in such as My Little Friend Cosy Bedding. The tank should be cleaned regularly and the lining and bedding replaced every week. |
